Power Your Home With a Solar Battery

We can help you get the most out of your investment in solar energy. Standard solar systems only work during the day, which means they turn off when the sun goes down, requiring you to use grid power again. By adding a battery into your solar energy setup, you can store the excess solar energy collected during the day and use it in the evenings, instead of relying on the grid.

With a battery system set to “Max Self-Consumption”, the solar energy can cover all your household loads, and any excess energy will charge your battery, ready for use when the sun goes down. The battery will discharge as you start using power in the afternoon, up until it is empty. This way, you can avoid being dependent on the grid. Take control of your power costs, and make the cost of living more affordable.

FAQs: Informed and Comprehensive Responses

  • My solar system isn’t that old but it isn't battery-ready, can I add a battery to it?

Yes, if you have an existing solar system. Instead of changing the inverter over to add a battery, we can AC Couple a Battery into your current system.

AC-coupled batteries are slightly more expensive due to having an additional smart management system that tracks what your solar is producing and  when you are consuming, so the battery knows when to charge and discharge. We can install a battery on almost every existing solar system. If you are unsure please feel free to contact us.

  • Is it cheaper to get a battery package from the start?

Yes, installing a battery at the same time as a solar system is much easier and more cost-effective than adding it later.

It would save us time, which means you money. It also means we can sell it as a package, meaning it would be all the same brand with no additional third-party equipment and one platform to monitor the system.

  • Will I still use power from the grid with a battery system?

Potentially, but it would be very minimal if so. It depends on how much storage you get vs how much you use at night. This will determine what you are left with the next morning.

Take for example, if you have a 10 kw battery and you use 9.8 kw at night and in the morning you put the aircon on before the sun comes out, you will use the remainder of the battery and some grid power.

The solar and battery system will produce power, store it, and discharge it when required but ultimately you still decide how you use the power. You will still need to watch what and when you are using power.

  • Will my battery have black out function?

Most, if not all batteries have black out function now.

It is an additional due to having to run more cables and extra switchboard work. However, if this is something that appeals to you, then we are happy to install it.

  • Can I install my battery anywhere on the house or commercial property?

No, there are very strict guidelines from the CEC standards on where a battery can be installed.

They can not be installed directly in the sun, and have anything 600mm within the battery area.

We usually install them in a garage, dedicated battery room, or on a south outside wall undercover. If it’s installed on the back wall of your garage, by law, we have to install a car bollard to protect it from being hit.

  • Is there a limit on battery storage I can install?

No, there isn’t a limit, but there will come a limit where your solar won’t be able to charge the batteries to a certain level, and that storage would be a waste.

It’s important we assess your house and calculate the size needed for your house so you are not wasting your money on battery storage you are not using.
